Zero out a log file when the process is running

So you have a process like apache or mysql, and the log file is getting large.   If you need to gain disk space in a hurry, you an zero out the log file by doing:

echo > /var/log/file

Once that is done, and you reclaim your needed space, be sure to setup logrotate for the log file.
